I have little use for the matrons of the view (and somewhat waning respect for Walters). In fact, in watching the clip of Beck's well-deserved evisceration, I have now watched more of The View than I have since the show went on the air! But in this instance, I am totally behind the women. Beck is a weaselly, intellectually mal-formed, egocentric schmuck who offers about as much social value as a Chicken Mcnugget. If anyone owes an apology to anyone else, it's his parents to the rest of the world.
Yeah, yeah, I know... "tell us what you really think, Steve.
Good... If you remember her old One Woman Show, you've seen her talent as an acute observer of Human nature. She BECAME her characters.
Just like George Carlin... the only thing that qualifies them above most of us, is the keen observational skills, the ability to analyze and articulate YOUR SPIN on what you've seen, and the outspokenness to voice that opinion. A Social Commentator, with a flair for politics.
Some people like Bill Maher, some Steven Colbert, whatever the only time I check it out is through links from here, I do a little further research .. but soon tire of it if it can't keep my interest.
I never watch the show, but I suppose she's entertaining. I don't "do" daytime TV. LOL just not a "Soapy" I guess.

I agree, her rationalization of Vick was hypocritical. But she nailed Beck on this one, the video tells it all. ... and Now Beck has done a 180 and is as bad as she was about Vick.
Maybe Whoopi got the AA for playing Oda Mae (Ghost) because she was just being her true self ?
I liked her in that movie and Sister Act... she was funny.... but there she was an actress... not an authority.
But I agree, how she and Walters become authorities and knowledgeable commentators is beyond me; they have no more qualifications than Beck, Rush, Hannity, O' Reilly, or Savage. IMHO they all blow some smoke.

If you start asking for people's qualifications to be political commentators . . . sheesh, how many folks who are now very profitably employed by Fox and MSNBC would be out of jobs?!?!

I've lost respect for Walters, she went from a good investigative reporter to more of a good reporter for the National Enquirer.
Whoopi was good in Ghost because the part was basically just her, but she hasn't really stood out in anything else she's done IMO. She's like Kevin Costner, a one note actor, not much change in voice, actions, body language, facial expressions etc. Each character is about the same.
The only thing I give Beck credit for is actually walking into that hornet's nest in the first place, that took big ones. Agreeing to go on the View is like agreeing to go on 60 minutes, you best be squeaky clean or get ready for a ride.
That was the longest I've watched too except for clips from Whoopi's first day. Something about sitting down for an hour and watching 5 angry women bellow doesn't rate up there for me. What scares me is how long the show has been on, and the fact that there are that many angry people on the loose that subscribe to that vulture mindset. I'd rather watch Springer, at least he doesn't take himself seriously like the women on the View do.

As far as "Angry Women" go ... "Get over it" We've also got a lot of "pent-up-pist-off" to work through as well. It's just amusing that guyze are shocked by that.
