All I know is what's in the PRESS...

There are many things around here people would like changed like eliminating the Coordinating Centers (bureacratic poo poo) and abolishing the SBUs, Strategic Business Units or as we call them "CDC Black holes" !!

I wouldn't mind seeing the security force reduced... yes reduced... example: it's stupid to have guards posted in several buildings when you've already gone through security clearance to get in the compound in the first place ! Big waste of $. .... and we don't need 12 guards at one 2 lane entrance ! Reminds me of road crews... 20 people ... 2 guys working, and the rest supervising or watching !

I'm excited... I don't think he can be near as bad as Gerberdink !

I can keep ya posted over the upcoming months. But surveillance, prevention, and treatment can have a BIG impact on health costs. ... and keep the damm politics out of the Science, go by the FACTS, not political dogma !

Given the sh!t you guys re supposed to have floating around there, I personally don't mind spending the $$ on the security redundancy -- better to have it and never need it than the alternative ;-)

Yeah, we saw how easy it was for that infected guy to elude security in the beginning of "The Stand".

Yes but I promise you no one can come in and get to it... first they have to know where it's stored... there are millions of vials of cells and bacteria and viruses in our freezers and ONLY those working in that specific Lab know where to find them - even then they'd have to consult specimen Log books to find them.

For example if someone demanded a vial of syphilis, I'd have to go to the Logbook to find where it's at, and I could easily slip them a harmless variety and they'd never know until weeks/days later. There is NO danger in that happening - like Ft Knox you might get in, but you won't get out !!

That's another problem - IF someone breached CDC and got in, they be surrounded before they could get any deadly stuff and get out. It's not like a Bank... it takes time to find and retrieve these things. And it's not like you can throw that crap in a bag and run.. you have to keep them frozen with dry ice or liquid Nitrogen which requires a cooler of some sort...

Lastly, our security is like the Keystone Cops... they'd be NO challenge for trained troops or terrorist hit squad. - again they might get in, but they'd have a helluva reception getting out. CDC would be surrounded in minutes- crap it takes 5-10 minutes just to get back to the right buildings and inside - with or without guards.. .Logistically it's near impossible.

You have nothing to worry about.

P.S. there IS one way to do it which I'll not discuss here ... but the Guards would have NO effect on stopping that mechanism. They would make NO difference what so ever.

I don't know - I really thought he had an inside track, esp. the way he handled H1N1 recently. . . and he was great on all the Sunday TV Talk shows. Very articulate.

SO I guess he'll go back to his old job... I hope the new Kid is great too.
