Woman runs for her life away from a bear but get run over by a car instead <- bummer

Now a woman that size a brown bear can run down any day or any person for that matter but the bear did not in fact I think the bear was more scared then she was ? Anyway what bothers me is that officials killed the bear <- wtf ?

I thought they took these animals way out in the mountains and released them so they could die a horrible slow death from starvation ?
