Hello everyone! I have a question to ask and need some help to figure out how I can solve this little problem I have with the library. I have over 9000 songs in my library, and in my compilations directory I have many albums of various artists. The rest of my library contains albums of the same artists, which here's where the problems start. iTunes takes artists from the compilations directory and places them in the album of the the artists like shown in the link. Picture of iTunes. My other pc doesn't have this problem and just is doing it on my laptop with portable HD. Does anyone know a way to fix this?
Thanks crazymacuser

To see all songs on a compilation CD grouped together in your library, make sure you select the “Group compilations when browsing” option in iTunes Preferences (it's at the bottom of the 'Advanced' panel in iTunes v8.x). If this checkbox is deselected, all songs from compilation CDs appear individually by artist in the Artist list (in the browser).
Hope this solves your problem.

Hello thanks for responding. The group compilations when browsing is checked but that does not seem to fix my problem and not sure if the problem can be fixed due to apple ways of setting up library functions. I just wish iTunes would keep album artist in there own group, and instead of placing songs from the same artist putting them into the artist albums. In other word I would like song to stay in the compilation group and not be in other groups of the same artists. I hope this make sence lol :0)

Um, no, I don't understand what it is you want it to do that's different from what it's doing. Sorry if I'm being thick.
So at the moment, according to the screenshot you took, you have a Toto album with Africa on it - and you also have a compilation album with another copy of Africa on it. Is that correct? What are you seeing in the other setups that's different from this?

I guess what I'm trying to say is there anyway to keep the compilation artists from going into the non compilation albums in library? Sorry for the confusion as it's hard for me to explain lol. Does the same on my desktop pc and not sure on my iMac.
Thanks again

What I'm getting from your posts is that when you do a search for "toto" you want to only get results that appear as part of the original album(s) and not display any results that are parts of compilations?
If that's the case, I'm not sure iTunes has search filters that are that granular -- at least I couldn't find anything like "don't display compilations" ...
That's what I thought too - but then CMU is saying it does it on one computer and not on another. Are you sure that all your computers have both versions of Africa?

Hello I'm not searching, just the library it self. Ok let say I have an album called Metallica - Master of puppets and i rip it to my libary ok. Now I rip another cd that has 12 different artist including one song from metallica which then this cd is categorize as a compilation album. iTune will place the music in the compilations list or whatever you wanna call it. If you goto your Metallica in your library if your in Grid it will also so the song from your compilation cd that you've just ripped like shown in my link in picture of iTunes.
Thanks and sorry for the confusion again. Have a great day!
