I have an old iMac running Panther 10.3.9, which can via wireless network "find" my new iMac running Leopard 10.5.6 What I mean is I click on the HD icon and then select "Network" in the left hand column and viola I see my new iMac and my old Powerbook also running 10.3.9....
Next go to my new iMac click on HD icon and see"Shared" and there are my old iMac and my old powerbook, BUT when I select them I get a connect as guest and get some kind of "drop box" as opposed to the opposite above where I can access anything on my new imac from my old imac.....hope this makes sense

Do you see a dialogue asking for username and password? Without logging in to the remote computer, you can only be guest. If you save the log-in to Keychain, the whole thing happens automatically, so maybe the old Panther installation has the log-in saved?

I don't get prompted on the new imac..... the old imac does prompt, but already has the user id and password keychained... So how do I get it to prompt me?

When you click on the Panther installation in the Leopard finder, there's a "Connect" button under the icon of the computer (if you're in column view) and if you're in either of the other views, the button is at the right of the title bar. Click on it and it'll ask for the username and password.
