I find polls annoying, and usually pay them no mind at all. But this one, reported by Yahoo seems to me really astonishing:
Quote:
According to a New York Times/CBS News poll, Obama has a 63 percent job approval rating and more than 75 percent of Americans are optimistic about the next four years with him as president.
It's the 75% optimism that I find astonishing. Given the economic realities and the increasingly dire predictions for the near future, it almost beggars the imagination!

for all of the whining about Obama not turning things around in his first month by some mouths on the right, Americans seem to be pretty reasonable . . . thank gosh. this is going to take time.
What kills me is everyone has an opinion about his policies but few offer anything better ... OR anything at all !!
Watching CNN Money last night and they had 3 economists on and not a single ONE could tell the moderator what would be best to stimulate the economy!! WTF good are they ? WHY are they getting paid to comment if they're clueless?
and the GOP wants to do NOTHING ! Why should they?? They already bailed out their rich fat-cat donors last November, and have been for 5 years under Bush !! .. so the average working Joe can just tought it and hit the road !!

Considering that the perpetrators of an eight year nightmare are finally out or work, the optimism isn't that surprising. It reminds me of a story Buddy Hackett used to tell about how Frank Sinatra once "saved his life." During a nightclub gig, Hackett had apparently made an unfavorable remark about Sinatra, who was in the audience. Sinatra had two of his body guards intercept Hackett on his way to his dressing room, drag him out to the parking lot and beat the crap out of him. Just as the the dazed comedian was about to pass out, Sinatra told his goons "that's enough."
