... I don't have kids. However, I encourage every one of my friends that have or want kids to have one more.

I don't have to pay for the raising of the child, However when the child that is born today, will pay social security (CPP in Canada) when they work for the man, thus supporting me as a retired person.

That dovetails with my plan ~ Everybody helps pay for public education, but the more kids you have, the bigger share you pay. That's the rule, no exceptions. (We don't have kids either, so your plan and my plan totally work. )

Yep its pay back
Raising kids believe me cost a whole lot more then the skinny tax breaks
But when I am old and decrepit like today , my daughter takes care of me . I would hate to think if I had no children , I would be left dead in a ditch somewhere
I'm way ahead of you all (except maybe Carp), I started my plan 24 years ago and made a backup plan 22 years ago !!
Yep, kids are the best and worst of us all. I don't regret it for 1 sec. Carp is right - it's a tanker truck full of expenses with a wheelbarrow of tax breaks, BUT the payoff is a super tanker worth of feelings and love.

My son would probably leave me in the ditch, not on purpose, but just because I wouldn't be there to help him think it thru: "Now what was the LAST thing you were doing before you lost him (me)?" Okay, my son is only 9, I should give him a break.
