I knew I was getting old when, in teaching Shakespeare's Richard III, I made a comparison to Tricky Dicky and no one in the class knew what I was talking about

i felt old and young this year when i was talking about something that happened when i was a freshman in college and some of my students weren't even born yet. this, from the same group of students who guessed my age as being just 5 - 6 years more than theirs. go figure.
I remember when talking to some of the grad students at lunch I felt old when I realized they had not been born yet when JFK was shot. Well, now we have a President who was not born yet when JFK uttered "Ask not what your country can do for you ..."
I still feel like I just got out of college. Maybe because I am still there.
