Several of you MM old hands have asked, so I figured I'd try and explain. Please consider this a general address to y'all, especially in consideration of your hospitality.

Admin at MacCentral made an arbitrary decision that flipped off a large percentage of the general population. Originally we had several forums under the MacCentral roof, all of them topic specific except for the General Discussion.

Thing was, that the topic spec forums had very little traffic, as most folks congregated at the GD forum. We exchanged Mac/tech talk, tips, opinions – you name it – and the level of expertise was very high and very diverse. And we also talked politics, current events – the sort of stuff that can easily lead to disagreements and the occasional serious flame war.

It was a wonderful mix. However, this past weekend, the Off Topic (non-Mac stuff) got way out of hand. Admin reacted by posting that the General Discussion forum would now be for only Mac/tech posts. They set up a Lounge forum for off topic only. Admin took away the mix and gave us a tech only forum and a chat room.

The final insult came when folks tried to post Mac/tech stuff in the Lounge. Admin plucked those posts and dropped them in the General Discussion forum. Made a lot of folks unhappy. He he, which is a serious understatement.

No doubt you'll hear more detail from other refugees, but I'm way too sleepy and y'all are probably still head scratching over all this.

[color:blue]A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men. – W.
