There are a lot of people dead in other countries around the world because of terrorism. None of them have created a fake war the way George Bush has using it as an excuse to invade sovereign nations for fake reasons and spending over a trillion dollars accomplishing exactly nothing.
I would call it a fake war. Fake wars have no ending. When do you think the War would end and habeas corpus was reinstated if George Bush and his ilk remained in power?
Never might be the correct answer. Fortunately we will never know.
I hope for the sake of liberals the world over that The Great Obama measures up to the goals you have set for him.
I hope also that all will be forgotten when the dynasty-building is over, the Bushes are out, and Caroline Kennedy is sworn in as senator from New York.
I hope history, for your sake, will continue to blame the Bush White House for all the evils of the last eight years, while ignoring anyone else who even sneezed sideways. No one thinks G W Bush was any more than he was. But to continue in blind vilification at this point, while holding up Mr. Obama as the incoming saviour is wearying.
I hope things in America improve. I ask each of you to truly consider, right now, and right here; How bad do you have it?"
The Bill of Rights doesn't grant us our rights, it merely enumerates them.
And completely different sets of people with completely different sets of motivations, priorities, and funding structures perpetrated those atrocities. What makes the "War on Terror" fake in Poly's words is that it's a framework that could be expanded to include any political act of violence by any people.
Worse yet, the United States has set off on a policy totally counter-productive to do anything about these injustices. It's as though Illinois was attacked by Minnesota and so we decided to go after Wisconsin, claiming all the time that it was part of our Global Struggle Against People Who Lengthen Their "O" Sounds.
I ask each of you to truly consider, right now, and right here; How bad do you have it?"
I think most here are fairly fortunate in that we don't have it as bad as a lot of others. Although some of us don't have it quite as good as we did eight years ago. But it's not how good or bad we might have it right now. It's how bad our kids and grandkids may have it in 15-20 years. And that will be the direct result of the past eight years of pisspoor leadership.
it's a framework that could be expanded to include any political act of violence by any people.
Very true - However this war on terror must have a declaration approved by congress which should have wording for limitations and exceptions <-- Have anyone seen this doc yet ? ? If there is no declaration , then Poly would be right in this case as well
