Looks like Dingy Harry is going to use his imagined "powers" to deny Roland Burris his legal place as the junior Senator from Illinois. Will there be repercussions when Harry Reid's naked aggression is checked by the Supreme Court?
found this on politico (and maybe it was in your article as well):
But Senate Democrats have a “Plan B” to keep Burris from being sworn in, regardless how the Illinois Supreme Court rules. Senate officials tell Politico that if presented with Burris’ appointment, they are likely to give the Rules Committee 90 days to determine the propriety of it by looking into such issues as whether Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich received anything in return for it.
“A motion to refer credentials to the committee has the effect of delaying seating,” a Senate Democratic aide said. “The motion is debatable and amendable.”
Another official explained: “That buys us 90 days.”
doesn't sound like they're denying Burris anything; rather, they are just delaying things to make sure the appointment was on the up and up -- remember, Blago is currently accused of trying to sell this particular seat. by the time the Senate completes their investigation then Illinois may have a new governor . . . and then they'll have a new pick for the Senate, i'd guess.
