We Brits know mediocrity when we see it... joking aside, since installing the 2.2 OS update, I notice that items need a much 'firmer' tap to activate than they did in 2.1, and things like the Settings panel seem to take longer to load.

Have you ever seen an iPhone move through its screens at anywhere near the speed it's happening in that advert? I certainly haven't.
As far as the ASA is concerned, it's not the number of complaints that's relevant in this case, since the discrepancy is so obvious - one complaint would have been enough if it drew the advert to their attention. They're very strict over here about dodgy advertising.

The ones on display at the Apple Store seems fine like the ads - but they are not loaded up with apps theres some music and a few videos - just wondering when the HD is almost maxed out would that cause the iPhone to be slow ?
Dunno - I've only got 3 pages of apps and my phone is not anywhere near as quick to do anything as in the ad (and never was, even straight out of the box).
With a flash drive the access time shouldn't be at all relative to the amount of data on the volume, unless it's very, very fragmented and the access routines are really badly written.
It may be a function of how mich stuff is loaded in the 'active ram' - I'm going to experiment with restarting and seeing how much that affects speed, and whether this changes once a few apps have been loaded and 'gone home' from.
