A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers.
I'll go kiss everyone in South Texas on the lips if they do make it stick.
Oh please let this be the re-awakening of real democracy, real justice, and really really sleepless nights ahead for all of these miserable despots. But don't do diddly 'til the big clown is gone and can't pardon anyone. In fact, bust him while he's putting the padlock on his U-haul right after the inauguration.
If you're familiar with Lynne Cheney's work you'd catch (one of the many) clue(s) as to why I've continued to alledge that the whole damn crew was a kennel of sick puppies! They really (I mean REALLY) "Got-Off" on chaining people to walls, sexually humiliating them, and doing sick shyte, like urinating on them, putting them into sexually explicit poses, fondling, sodomizing them and forcing them to masturbate while being photographed. IMHO they went WAY beyond "Normal" Torture Techniques, and weirder still...once it came to light, rather than breaking off the sick crap, they overwrote the Constitution, making it somehow legal... as if it was then all "OK" Sorry, AFAIC, that's a sexual obsession.
Anyway, what you're now seeing is NOT the beginning of the end for these scumbags, it's the beginning of the PARDON PROCESS.
I'm not a legal scholar ... what's the chances that there's a signing statement somewhere allowing them to PARDON EACH-OTHER?
Well, crap. My original link to the Houston Chronicle isn't working, so here's one that takes you to the Brownsville Herald. It's got more info, too.
DA Guerro is batshlt crazy, but people love him down there (he keeps getting reelected). The private prisons that started this thing were built exclusively to handle the "illegal immigration" problem, as defined in the minds of those that would take a profit on baby meat if it were marketable. Just extra info that's not in the article.
_________________________ I always deserve it. Really.
I watch a lot of C-SPAN that's where the news is happening that we get 3rd 4th or 5th hand by watching it rehashed on all the media networks as a mish-mosh of he sed she said comments on what could have been seen first hand before it's seasoned, sugar coated, and run bun through the spin cycle, before it's punched up on late-nite then parodied on SNL just for larfs.
I saw the day they passed the bill concerning CORPORATE PRISONS (if search still works here, I betcha I brought it up, and somebody else laughed it off) the Good-Ol-Boyze ReTHUGnicans were slapping each other on the back for coming up with a scheme to OUTSOURCE WORK DONE BY PRISONERS as a chilling kind of SLAVE LABOR FORCE for pennies an hour, and proposing that a few PRIVATIZED PRISONS could serve as a TEST CASE for a wider network of Private, Corporate Prisons.
They sold it as "Saving the American TAXPAYER Money" that had been traditionally been paid for as the cost-per-prisoner they shouldered in their own best self interests for the safety and Security of WAREHOUSING UNDESIRABLES by "getting them off the streets".
The deal was that Prison Labor has existed for a long time to subsidize costs of rehabilitation programs. (Making License Plates, Street Signs & Army Gear ((belt buckles & helmets)) FOR THE STATE <--> THAT WAS THE LAW! Up Until THEN --- It HAD To Be Government Contracted Work...
The day I saw then argue that "It was GOOD for the Prisoners" to be made to feel like useful members of society... trained in the use of tools... get pocket change for small goods such as soda-pop & candy bars...... but SADLY *sniff* there "Just Wasn't Enough Work To Go Around" *sniff*
~ PROBLEM ~ REACTION ~ SOLUTION ~
Cut costs at BOTH Ends Win/Win allow PRIVATE CORPORATIONS to pay for the Prisons & Guards, with the added BENEFIT (for the Prisoners) to have MORE GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT to Fill their dreary days! AH HA! We've Got It! REMOVE That Pesky REGULATION<--> of banning the outsourcing of work other than purely government contract work! "ALLOW" the Prisoners to Sew Jeans for "The Gap" etc. etc. etc.
Short Story Long: Brings us back to the TOPIC: PRISONER ABUSE: Sweat-Shop Conditions: A CAPTIVE LABOR FORCE for mere PENNIES AN HOUR right within the Borders of the Good Old US of A.
So again, I watched the DEMOCRATS Go APES__T (just like they did when the RE-THUGnicans foisted the "Free-Trade-Agreement" on the people of the world that was destined to bust the economy, drive businesses off-shore, and put the American People out of work because they could never compete with people FORCED TO WORK FOR PENNIES AN HOUR UNDER SWEAT- SHOP CONDITIONS....
The RE-THUGnicans thought the Dems shouting "FOUL!" was HILARIOUS! They actually turned their backs on them laughing.
Sorry... the thought of them PARDONING EACH OTHER, and skipping-out with their ill-gotten-gains is TOTALLY UNEXCEPTABLE!
