Were you able to do that before?
There's a setting to delete ANY post -- but that's not reasonable to do. There's a 60 min time limit for editing posts -- which is probably the right way to handle this.
deleting was often used (by me anyway) when i'd accidentally post the same thing twice. but that was typically the result of a very slow server day so . . .

Yes.
You could delete a post before, if and only if someone had not replied to it.
For example, sometimes I'll accidentally post a topic in the wrong forum. I could delete the topic and then repost in the correct forum. However if someone replied to my new topic, then it was not possible to delete it.
