It's been a long time coming, but I'm pleased to say you are now on the new forum system! We believe that the data is in good shape, and the forums are running right, but there's some tweaking that we'll probably be doing on the look and feel.
Do report any bugs in the "Forum Feedback" forum here -- one new topic per bug please.
Thank you for your patience on this migration.

Neil I'd like to start by thanking you for all your hard work. The new forums look great and are much faster. I did notice that some posts have no option to reply only notify and email post. Is this a feature, a bug, or what? Thank you again for all your hard work.

Hi all,
You should be able to now reply and make posts. We didn't see it at first because it was disabled only for users, but not admins. I believe this is now fixed everywhere, but if not, drop us a note if you can't post a bug. (See contact us link at the bottom here.)
Runs like a ticket machine, too, huh? I still can't believe everything made it to the other side, it's all still there. Now that's just down right awesome! Lemme see if this still works ~

Oh, yeah, this place is a keeper. :-D

Interesting how to preview the 4 style sheets. Nice.
Sean: Highlite your K Jhawks whole line and choose the A with color bar underneath to choose a color and it'll put the code in for you.
it wasn't my fault . . . they just applied the code i was using in the old forums to the new forums and that didn't work. i've fixed it already -- as you can see.
the software upgrade was likely not too cheap. the man hours spent upgrading without losing anything was not cheap either. if keeping a community together means that there will be some minor changes in appearance to get the extra features we now have then i am fine with what we've got.
I'll probably say this a gazillion times over the next week, but that all our "stuff" made over to this other side? I'd figured our "history" was a goner. But nope, it's all still there, along with our avatars and sigs and PMs and . . . Total Complete WOW. Unbelievable, just jawdroppin' unbelievable.
Edit: (Which is working now, cool) I forgot ~ faster than a greased lipsticked pig.

Looking good, Niel! Nice work.
One more question. I just noticed that every PM I've sent or received since 2002 is back in my messages list! I usually clean these out every month, but now even the stuff I deleted years ago is back. Is their a way to purge that systemically, or do I just need to spend a half hour going through and batch delete manually?

Yeah, I know all that. I just didn't know if this was something that was going to be attended to as part of the transition. I was just surprised that even deleted PMs were still cached after so many years. No big deal.
"A half hour or whatever isn't that big of a deal." HA! Walk in my shoes for a day. And I mean all 24 hours of it!
yeah, I was surprised too to see old PM's I deleted 6 years ago! Only thing I can attribute that to is probably nobody ever did any technical support for Stan it seems. I mean, heck, nobody ever upgraded the boards in 7 years!
I think now that we are on a new server with a more involved Editor, once you delete it, it should stay deleted.
Nice place huh !! Well too bad we couldn't share some "spirits" together.
The last week has been awesome... 1. My Alma Mater TTU upset #1 Texas 2. Obama gets elected. 3. we get a new cyber home. 4. Our local HS upset their rivals Brookwood last night. now if my luck holds out TTU will beat OSU tonight.

Basically, there are two things that generate revenue for the magazine (and the magazine is who pays for the servers, software, and bandwidth ... which are considerable costs).
Those two things are:
* magazine subscriptions * advertising in print (which many times includes online)
Google ads add a bit to that as well.
So, I need to find a balance between these and the site design. I will work on this more down the road, but not right now as it's a fair amount of work.
First step is the structure and new forum areas (not to mention the other projects on my plate right now), and then we'll work on the look and feel stuff. I will, however, try to do that before we "launch" the forums to beyond this core community.
In the mean time, enjoy the new setup as is ... as it's a far cry from where it was!
