Acorn is now under intense investigation for voter registration fraud . To bad Obama is not their attorney any more

Acorn help register 1.2 million voters a few hundred has already been found to be fraudulent

"Discredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.

• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.

In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. (For more about Barack’s career, check out our Obama bio.)

Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Barack and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.

Blackwell’s attacks against ACORN and community organizers continue a vile Republican pattern of mockery and viciousness against this noble profession. Community organizers are the very individuals Republicans should be celebrating for helping people to help themselves rather than depending on the government."

[color:red] Another 'smear attempt'?

[color:blue][/b]Hodie mihi.
In reply to:

Acorn help register 1.2 million voters a few hundred has already been found to be fraudulent

.000166%

that's .0166 of 1%.

Yes, the fraudulent application forms must be destroyed. But the number you cited hardly seems worth going into panic mode. An application is not a vote, a rejected bogus application is not a vote. Acorn! Acorn! Like the woman in the clip I posted about wacko Palin supporters. Obama's stealing the vote!

How many mischeif applications are by GOP troublemakers ... like the whole Operation Chaos scheme? That seems likely since there's a big effort to smear Obama's fundraisng efforts.

Several thousand dollars of credit card donations to Obama have been made by fraudulent sources ... and that money was returned to the issuing credit card account.

Carp, are you also concerned with republican voter supression of tens of thousands that courts are already trying to block?

yeah...that t'aint much.

I was afraid it was more serious... Thanks for the post Gary and Mike !!

Boy the McCain / ImPalin camp is really getting despirate...

next thing they'll try to smear Obama because he wears loafers instead of tied shoes. Puts all those shoe string corporations outta bidness !! he, he , he

David (OFI)
I saw that. The numbers look like they're pretty similar to some of the same registration fraud problems that happened last time. It basically goes like this...

A non-for-profit raises money to go register new voters. They pay people to go scour neighborhoods to find poor people and homeless people who don't register because they don't have a permanent address. Then they pay those workers for the amount of voter registrations they come back with.

Well... you can see where the fraud happens. There is invariably a bunch of "Mouse, Mickey" and in this case the whole starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys. Those applications end up being scrapped by the local election officials and whomever turned them in gets away with the cash. This happens when ever you have a group out there paying people to register voters.

Even if an application was put in and not scrapped, it's highly unlikely that an election judge would ever see these applicants or anyone claiming to be one. Remember, it wasn't too long ago that a bunch of US Attorneys were fired because they couldn't find any actual cases of widespread voter fraud.

In the meantime, voter caging and disenfranchisement has actually been observed. Here's a story that was on NPR today. I don't know personally what is going to be trouble and what won't. I'm hoping that it's not anywhere close enough to matter.

-- Cee Bee Double-U
[color:blue]An application is not a vote, - certainly

However it puts the other 1,2 million at risk - so now some people have to go through them all , before the election

[color:blue]big effort to smear Obama's fundraisng efforts. - I dunno but the whistle blowers was Acorn own employees who notice the same exact signature on many registration forms - Oddly Acorn current attorney is discrediting its own employees for blowing the whistle

This investigation does not effect Obama at all and in no way is involved just Acorn

I only posted this to remind Obama supporters to get their heads out of Obama arse to have a look around . McCain is not 100% evil and Obama is certainly not 100% guardian angle either.

My public service message against (Blind Devotion) on both sides

I Carp approve this post

Then they pay those workers for the amount of voter registrations they come back with.

Yep thats the way I feel as well - think about if Acorn gave a Low Income person say a buck for every application they brought back <-- theres just gonna be some application abuses . but whose watching the chicken coop ?? or they just let these yahoos run ramped ? ?

Bottom Line;
Obama made a donation to Acorn to improve low income voter turn out <-- great for Obama thinking above McCains lack luster promoting voter curve . However , since Obama did pay these people to go out and commit voter registration fraud and did not watch the chicken coop "Acorn" he could have some egg on his face after this one.
