I was testing the mac with the Main HD. This is the HD that (I thought) was giving me a hard time with the Finder.

I have had it in both bays, with no other HD in there. And it works fine. But adding the 2nd HD, which when it was in either bay worked fine, caused the Finder to quit.

I'm at the Apple Store now waiting for 9am to roll around.

my photos
Well, they called me and said that the Seagate 1TB drive is bad. The mac passed all the hardware tests. Hmm..so 2nd HD to go bad in about 2 months.

my photos

Sorry to hear that, but you did recover your files, right? Funny that we entrust our data to mechanical devices that will and do fail. I wonder if SSDs will be any better.

No, not yet. I plan on either putting it in the external case or booting up off of it. It worked fine for me last night.

After that I plan on reformating the drive and reinstalling OSX. If I continue to have problems, I'll get a new drive from Seagate.

my photos

I had a WD a few years ago that developed some issues. The drive mechanism was good, but the controller in the drive was malfunctioning. It took a long time to retrieve the contents.

Apparently I can't get access to the drive. So what's on there is gone. I could boot off of it last night but not now. The Finder just keeps quitting, even when I put it in an external case.

my photos
