Firewire target disk mode would let you do a disk repair, if he brings his Mac along. (Also a way to access files you may urgently need.)

Good luck!

nagr[color:red]omme

I require stroyent!
TeamMacOSX.com | MacClan.net

So it doesn't function even if you boot from the CD?

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]

I'm currently booted up off of the 10.5 install DVD. Checked permissions and verified disk. Everything appears OK. Next I'll boot it via Firewire Target Disk Mode and save anything and reinstall OSX.

I wonder if this is tied into the problems I had with iTunes (music not playing all the way through before going to another song) & Aperture (not opening up a library after restart, said something about permissions). I'm betting it is.

my photos
ok, now THIS is weird.

Booted up the Powermac via firewire disk mode. That's fine on that end. Now the finder is quitting on my iMac! it started to show the HD's from my PM and then..now nothing is on the desktop and it's restarting/quitting. WTF.

my photos
Well, I thought it was the HD. But the finder doesn't work with the newer HD in there by itself...

my photos
Edited by OSXaddict on 09/10/08 05:13 PM (server time).
