We need smarter cable DVR boxes! It can't be that difficult! I set mine to record the season premier of Eureka last Tuesday evening. Did it alert me that it was (or would be) out of space to do that? Nooooo! So, it did not record that episode while I was not at home. Luckily, it is available at scifi.com and I'm going to watch it this afternoon on my Mac.

Yeah, the cable companies' DVR needs to steal a page or two from TiVo when it comes to intelligent programming. I'll set mine to record any and all episodes of a program on the channel at 'any time', and one day it'll just decide it doesn't want to anymore.

Luckily, almost *everything* is online these days, albeit lower-quality versions. They'll do in a pinch, but I'm not so sure if I could ever sacrifice cable TV in favor...

[color:red]Work With ____!

I know... i was going to kill my Verizon HD-DVR Sunday too.

I've been taping the Saturday@10 replays of Eli Stone on ABC to get my Mom caught up. I taped the first 5 episodes no problem, then i woke up Sunday morning to check and, no episode...

i thought, maybe it wasn't on??? but no. it Was on, just my Series recording was set to keep "only 5 episodes"

i didn't set it for Only 5. What kind of default setting for a Series record is Only keep 5 episodes?

stupid. i then changed it to Keep All Episodes! dummy.

so i'm downloading the torrent of episode 6 in HD as we speak.
