the Dems could get this through easily if they did it normally. instead they went for some weird procedure that required it to have 2/3 of the House. if it's key to their agenda then why set it up to fail?

i'll tell you why . . . because it sounds better in theory (it's why Obama is suggesting it as well). in practice, it's far better to keep in in place and not tap into it. they're talkig the game because it will resonate with voters (sort of like off-shore drilling), but they aren't going to do it. now it can be a campaign issue for them.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
Like I said pandering to the stupid.

We found out what the US public has as a gas cost cap - around $4.50/gal, and we stopped using the stuff. Wait until it drops to $3.00/gal and people will start buying SUV's again, because they're stupid and won't believe that it will ever go back up again.

I used to think it was terrible that life was unfair. Then I thought what if life were fair and all of the terrible things that happen came because we really deserved them? Now I take comfort in the general unfairness and hostility of the universe.
