New TV Ad from Sen. McCain

If you haven't seen it, it's pretty straightforward, Sen. McCain tries to paint Sen. Obama as a "celebrity" who is not prepared to take over the White House. That's after putting up pictures of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton when establishing the premise. What?

Is this really the best that Sen. McCain can do? I understand whining about the media. That's the kind of Kobe Bryant "playing the refs" BS that every Republican presidential candidate (or their surrogates) is going to do. But whining about how popular a candidate is?

I love how it is sacrosanct to say anything about Sen. McCain's miserable stumbles while he pretends to know a thing or two about world affairs, but when has it been cool to dismiss entirely an opponent's voters? Why doesn't Sen. McCain do something worthwhile instead of hanging around German restaurants like a snide, bitter, little man complaining about all the press that Sen. Obama gets?

Most importantly, these advertisements and statements and idiocy from the McCain campaign looks like something very specific, a loser. He's acting like a [censored] loser. Fine. He deserves to lose.

-- Cee Bee Double-U
and here's a funny little figure
In reply to:

The Wisconsin Advertising Project, which monitors campaign ad spending nationwide, reported yesterday that of the $48 million worth of ads the two campaigns have aired since Obama clinched the nomination in early June, 90 percent of Obama's ads have been positive and mostly about himself, while about one-third of McCain's commercials referred to Obama negatively. (source)

-- Cee Bee Double-U

In reply to:

He's acting like a [censored] loser.

I agree!

My 'neighborhood' is getting bombarded with those negative ads already! It's the 'Schmidt Strategy'!

[color:blue] "Schmidt, a bald and barrel-chested operative known for his aggressive brand of political combat, responded by exhorting campaign aides with a speech that one staffer likened to a locker room pep talk out of the football movie "Rudy."

IMHO. if the McCain camp keeps this up, it may well backfire...

[color:blue][/b]Hodie mihi. Cras tibi.[/b]
This is something that a lot of us saw as inevitable if Obama got the nomination. The real point of the ad is that, because Obama has no real record of actions, he is nothing but a celebrity. Now, I don't agree with that perspective, but it follows directly from Obama's relative inexperience on the national stage.

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]
