Republicans Stand By Stevens' Re-Election Bid

I understand that party men and party women like to look out for other party men and party women. I get that, but this is just idiotic. I think the Republicans have put themselves over the barrel here and it is not just in their support for Sen. Ted Stevens, but also their continued support for the "drill more!" policy that Sen. Ted Stevens supports so virulently. This happens by the way while Exxon siphons more money away from oil exploration and http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/31/news/companies/exxon_profits/?postversion=2008073109 " target="_blank">into profits, doing nothing to ease the problem of high oil prices.

So go ahead... keep supporting Stevens. Keep supporting drilling whenever possible. Keep supporting old dogs that just won't hunt.

-- Cee Bee Double-U
Good ... let the rats go down with the sinking ship !!

Could Sen Stevens be innocent ? sure, but very unlikely or they wouldn't have pursued the case to indictment. I think Stevens got sloppy and got used to having freebies done for him. Was it intentional ? Doesn't matter... he's responsible and I don't think doing this for 9 years is a minor mistake. Sorry 1 -2 items yes, maybe ... but over a 9 year period... not hardly. He knew the rules... getting free deck work and new cars are not minor things one could forget.

David (OFI)
