... Will this be another OJ situation?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it previously, but Robert Blake - he of the TV series "Baretta" and more importantly of the excellent film "In Cold Blood" - was arrested last night on charges of murdering his wife ...

The theory goes that he was despondent over thier marriage which he felt was forced upon him due to her being pregnant with his child ... he allegedly shot and killed her in their car outside a restaurant (I think it was a restaurant) ...

Question: Does this case have the potential to be another celebrity circus like the O.J. trial, or does the lack of the race card make this simply another murder trial?

Discuss.

=)

***matt

who is he?

okay, i actually do remember him, but baretta ended in the late 70's and he's done very little since. i just don't understand why this is getting attention. it took over cnn last night and i found myself turning the channel. i just don't care and will not pay attention to this story when there is much else happening in the world.

[color:blue] -sean

The news media is going to love this
With all the film footage of Blake from his childhood to the present they will have a hayday so to say
Yep we will be sick of it in no time

This could be da place
See David Lynch's LOST HIGHWAY. The film is weak, cool, and perplexing, but Blake makes an appearance as one really creepy SOB. The more people who see it, the more his lawyers can claim a mistrial!

Well after watching the Fox news this morning.

Blake cannot pull a race card.
LAPD and the LADA has learned alot from the OJ trial circus.
The DA says that they spent a year and interviewd people from 20 states.
The DA states that they have a mountain of evidence against him.

To make matters worse is that Blakes own attorney admitted that Blake did have a motive to kill his wife.

Since the killing and no race involved was not as gruesome as with the OJ case. I suspect that this will not get the same kind of circus coverage.

Now if LAPD interviwed the Parrot with bright lites and slaped it around a bit to get it to talk that would be different.

Let the side shows begin!

This issue was on CNN last night for the ENTIRE evening (at least 8 hours). Everybody in the media will jump on the bandwagon for the $. If this case gets as much attention as O.J. did, there's something really wrong in America!!!

Oh! My opinion? He's guilty - let him fry.

[color:red]Alec
The film makes NO SENSE until you accept it speaks symbolically instead of literally, which is why most people HATE it. The way to understand it better is to think of America when the movie was made: Clinton and OJ.

Bill Pullman is meant to remind you of Clinton. The way that he reinvents himself mid-movie to a complete innocent is supposed to make you think of OJ. The car racing down the highway is a symbol of America's madness racing into oblivion.

I hope that will help.

Well, I believe in the old adage, Guilty until proven innocen....wait..that's wrong. Innocent until proven Guilty..yeah yeah..that's it! ;)

Ahh..I hate movies like that..I prefer the ones that do all my thinking for me :D

Anyone see Memento?
