I appreciate the effort to keep things intact here at MM, but it's simply not working. Whatever the reason for the slowness around here since switching to your server, it's not important, and certainly not worth dealing with.

So I ask this, PLEASE, do whatever you have to do to fix it. Get rid of this crappy-assed forum software (many of us hate it anyway), delete all old posts, delete user accounts... do whatever you have to do to get this place running at a reasonable speed.

While some people will most certainly complain about the loss of our history here, it's nothing in comparison to what's going to happen if you don't fix it. Eventually people are going to get tired of the intolerable wait times here and just move on forever. There'll be nobody left to complain anyway. I know of two people who already have left specifically due to the speed - and quite honestly, I don't post here often since the switch either, because there are too many other options out there that work properly.

Don't ask for opinions, don't run polls asking for votes. It's your site, JUST FIX IT.

In short, I agree. It's just more work than it looks like. I've been out for a bit (just finished taking 20 boys to scout camp for a week) ... and so I'm starting the process of looking into how we want to accomplish this.

It will be a bit -- but we have to get off this software. The archives are not the issue (btw). If they are a big problem, we'll just find a way to archive them ... no big deal.

Thanks for your patience!

Neil

Well, I had help. Even so, got home late Sat night and spent the entire day on the couch watching tv on Sun ... and STILL needed a 2 hour nap yesterday. Lost 3-4 pounds in the week.

But, we all had a blast -- not to mention that the boys earned 75 merit badges, plus another 10 partials, honor troop, most points for inspections, two first places for camp wide games. And, that's on top of an overnight canoe trip, service projects, and more.

It was a busy week, and I'm proud of them.

Simply amazing. Congrats for your well deserved award.

I must say, given how busy you were already, I'm so thankful you found time to take on MM as well. Not a day goes by that I don't say a silent "thank you" that this forum still exists.

Edited by margadagio on 08/06/08 04:04 PM (server time).
