I can embed it now (back at home). Don't know if everyone has already seen this, is still sleeping, can't be bothered, or just figured a no comment was the best way to go..

We are STILL what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle

My opinion: I feel 'turned off' by this overwhelming expression of patriotism. This video is just packed with too many of those schmaltzy, kitschy elements that could be seen on posters sold at WalMart shortly after 9/11.
Remember I live in an area where people proudly display 'the flag' on their front porches 24 hours a day and don't have the faintest idea of 'proper flag displaying etiquette'.
They also still buy those yellow bow ties and stick them on the trunk lids of their SUVs...

I much rather see something like this...

[color:blue][/b]Hodie mihi. Cras tibi.[/b]
Yeah I agree with Mike... it's too unbalanced...

YES we stand.. or maybe Stood for certain principles years ago, but the last 6 have tarnished all of that, very badly.

And I think we have rarely "stood as One"... maybe after Pearl and several months after 9-11, until the Bushies started their ilk, with Iraq and all the lies and propaganda. Even then they taineted the water by using strong arm tactics like "you're 100% with us or your against us" ... "NO discussions = unpatriotic" . the same ones Goebbles used 65 years before.

Like religion, no one wants patriotism shoved down your throat... telling you what's patriotic and what isn't. esp when it comes to trivial BS like flag lapels and bumper stickers!
That unbridiled, zealous type of partiotism and nationalism over anything else (incl reason) is what spurred the Nazi, Italian, and Japanese finaticism of the 1930's. Course these are the same ones who hug the Bible and totally forget its teachings when it comes to "patriotism"...and treating other human beings as .. well human beings.

IMO - they are "Lost" !

David (OFI)

I saw it last night when you first posted the link, but didn't bother to respond for the reasons that Mike says. I'm really a soft touch for real emotion, and sentimentalism always gets me going (even though I feel like an idiot for letting it) . . . but this clip is just silly, a little bit like the "Power of Pride" bumper stickers, put on no doubt by people who never read or understood the point of Proverbs 16.18.

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]

These are the kinds of reactions I was expecting (hoping for). Mike's comments that it's like a Walmart poster come to life right after 9-11 (or something like that) is a pretty good description. Not only is it sappy, it is so jingoistic while pretending not be. The maker of this "work" insists it's for the whole world; ridiculous. The video bothers me on so many levels. I can't help but laugh at it's cheesiness as well though.

It's older than I thought, because those Southpark guys put out somewhat of a rebuttal in their Team America movie (which I have never seen). It is over the top, too, but that's the whole point.

We are STILL what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle

That's ridiculous.
It's aimed at a certain segment of the US-population.
And I can see a large portion of my greater 'neighborhood' definitely still go for this kind of propaganda.
Unfortunately, these poor misguided clodhoppers also vote!
And you can pretty much figure out whom they're going to vote for come November...no matter what!

[color:blue][/b]Hodie mihi.
