To all,

Thanks for everyone's patience. I have to say, I'm pretty frustrated with the performance of the wwwthreads software, and I know for sure that I don't want us to use this as a permanent solution.

That said, made a bunch more tweaks tonight -- and we're going to do some regular restarts at 1am, and 3:45pm Pacific every day and see if that helps along as well (it seems to have trouble at around 20 hours of run time).

So, if I can get a fresh round of feedback, that would be great.

Thanks!

Neil

Thanks so much for all you've done and continue to do.
It does seem to be snappier for me now. How spoiled I get when things just happen. *S*.

Good job.

Mary

Fine and dandy this morning/early noon. I'll see how fast this post posts.

Thanks for your work!

edit: The posting was not instantaneous, but the speed was very acceptable.

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]
Edited by yoyo52 on 07/06/08 09:09 AM (server time).

That's what we're seeing as well. This appears to just be the software, and not the settings. Our best solution for this is to get onto a modern, supported system.

Thanks!

Neil

Much better so far today. It did start to bog down yesterday afternoon, though.

Yes, the software is "ancient," but it's simplicity is what most folks like about it and is one reason they stick around and post here. I'm sure there is newer stuff out there that can be set up to be nearly as simple to use as this stuff is.

i have a lot of posts in the archives with my current alias and my previous one . . . but i would be thrilled if you dropped the wwwthreads software at some point. even if that meant we lost the history of posts. i used to be more concerned, but we went through it at MacCentral before they screwed their forums up and i just saved what i wanted. so give us notice and we can deal. but i obviously don't speak for everyone.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
I was wondering what people here thought about upgrading to new/different software and losing the posts here. that's going to be the unfortunate side effect....BUT, it gives us a whole new chance to create them all over again on the new stuff!

my photos
