...if a candidate has a strong position against abortion the majority of voters will still vote for them as long as they're strong on issues like the economy and healthcare? If that's so it's good news.

"It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness."

Reboot I am not for abortion, but they have tried to pass laws with certain exceptions (rape, incest, save life of mother, etc) but many hard core conservatives (GOP) wanted NO exceptions, so nothing was passed.
Then Bush and the GOP pushed "abstinence only" programs and that didn't work producing unwanted pregnancies when many could have been avoided. They refused to fund other more successful programs that counseled abstinence, but also taught birth control. NO they wouldn't have it.

All I'm saying is I'm glad it's taken out of the political arena - it should be in the medical and cultural arenas and not used as a political wedge.

David (OFI)
abortion is not a voting issue for me. but a judge who wants to strike down abortion laws tends to have many other views that i do not support. so it's probably going to be rare that a candidate will be anti abortion and still have enough other positions for me to support them.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
