Unity? The had their rally in Unity? Now I am curious where McCain and Bush could have their big rally. Is there a place called Rock Bottom? or....Divisiveness? or..South Bedfellows? They also seem like plausible place names to me...

We are STILL what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle

In reply to:

Is there a place called Rock Bottom?

I can think of two. Rock Bottom is a place the Sponge Bob and Patrick are trapped in because they cannot get a bus back to Bikini Bottom. Or at least SB can't. It becomes a metaphor for a difficult task not unlike Sisyphus and his boulder. The inhabitants of Rock Bottom speak with a raspberry lisp. One of my favorite episodes.

The only other Rock Bottom I know is the sidekick of "The Professor" who is a nemesis of Felix the Cat. I remember because it is part of my shtick I do imitating voices. I do Felix exclaiming, "Oh No, It's the Professor! And Rock Bottom!" (The gag is a little thin since the number of people who have actually seen the cartoon is getting pretty small. If I did "Master Cylinder!" to the mix I usually continue to get blank stares. I've had to retire Peter Lorry for the same reason although my Peter Lorry doing John Wayne was a hoot but really only I got it in the end. I did a poll of my lab recently and no one had ever seen "The Maltese Falcon" or "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence." Sad day.
