I get the feeling that there is just a serious cover your ass problem in the Homeland Security Department. They really don't have any proof that anything they do is effective. They can barely figure out who is in charge of what. They don't have the investigative know-how or capacity to do anything proactive.

So someone in charge says, "We have to do something!"

Now they are collecting more information and more material than they could know what to do with. You could say the same thing about the eavesdropping activities in the Federal Government. The amount of information they are collecting is too large, too unspecific, and too fraught with junk to do anything with but give the FBI headaches with all kinds of false leads on nothing cases.

But at least we have files and files are things that you can point to when your boss walks in so it looks like you're working.

The next president is going to have to change an awful lot of our government's culture to fix all this. I do not envy the man.

-- Cee Bee Double-U

Well he should be thankful ....

at least he wasn't water-boarded !!

this MoFo in the WH has really fscked our county in the azz !!

what would all you conservatives who backed Bush to the hilt say if OBAMA wanted to do this !!?

it's stupid and UN-Constitutional

David (OFI)

yes... you're right, but he led much of it. And when I say Bush I really mean the Bush Administration... he's just the stooge.

and no, on Jan 22, 2009 I don't expect all the problems and the war to disappear, it'll take maybe another 8-10 years to set things right --- IF we even can then.

David (OFI)

And I will bring back what I have known for years in that the democrats are no better than the republicans and if they take the white house they will keep the same agencies in place to protect their hold on their power.

Still I Plan to vote for Obama. But it won't surprise me that he will turn out to be a controlling bastard also.

dave
