he was deprived from her company. So, isn't this the same type of statement Michelle Obama made? I know what both of them meant but analysts dissect and jab this to death.

McCain didn't love America

Too many lives they've spent across the ocean. Too much money been spent upon the moon. Well, until they make it right, I hope they never sleep at night. They better make some changes and do it soon. -Things Goin' On/Lynyrd Skynyrd

That's totally different... everyone knows only the GOP loves America, and only that right wing party are patriots as shown by their flag pins... and 100s of flags all over their vehicles.

The Dems on the other hand hate American and even quietly applauded when 9-11 occurred. They don't wear lapel pins of the flag or put their hands over their hearts during the Natl Anthem cause they really aren't proud.

Gosh how long does it take for you guys to get this... they've been saying it for about 20 years now.

David (OFI)
True, but trying to convince either one is probably easier than converting the energy it would take to convince into fueling a perpetual motion machine.

[color:white]xx[color:blue]I always deserve it. Really.

We're in a very bad way when so many of our citizens have an intense, passionate belief that the USA is beyond criticism. But that's the way it is. Perhaps there is some truth in what Michelle Obama said! Perhaps she was thinking of the long trail we are taking out of racism (for example, to name just a single problem). Why can't she say an honest word about that without some people---and much of the media---reacting like she was this terrible scoundrel?

The real scoundrels are the ones who encourage and seem to legitimize this kind of arrogance. You want fascism in America? Listen to Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, or any politician who wants to destroy an intelligent, decent woman like Michelle Obama for speaking her mind, for referring momentarily to America's far less than perfect past. You want fascism in America? Look at the millions and millions who constitute the dumb and ignorant in America (what Mencken 80 years ago called the "booboisie") and you have to wonder if we're not halfway there already.

In reply to:

We're in a very bad way when so many of our citizens have an intense, passionate belief that the USA is beyond criticism.

That is the most disturbing part of this rhetoric.

How can we fix things if we cannot say it is broken? The bipolar attitude of Republicans is the weirdest part. The federal government is out of control and we have to make it smaller but we cannot say anything bad about America as if they are two different things. As if the flag is more about America than our government is.

We had 9/11. We have had seven years of fascism oriented nationalism in reaction to 9/11. It is time for people like Lars Larson to figure out that America has gotten over this disease and it is time to move on. They really need to change their tune or crawl back under the rock from hence they came.
