Hot tub, golf, and all I did was wash my car for the first time this year. Actually I didn't, just pressure sprayed it. But I did clean the tires. About 60,000 miles on the tires and they still look brand new.

Thanks, I need to pick up an 8GB SD card tomorrow which was on my short list anyway. (4GB is not big enough for the upgrade.)

I followed all the directions and nothing happened. The directions say if nothing happens then your camera already has firmware 1.2 onboard.

I wish I could know for certain. I could download photome onto a PC. I think all I have to do is have the photome look at a picture I have taken with the lumix and it will dig out the firmware verion from the get info. Or I could do this weird hold four buttons down to get into service mode but that sounds like it is too easy to brick the camera.

So now I have an 8GM 15mb/s Ultra SD card. Time to take a few movies. Meeting siblings in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in a few minutes. There are some moving sculptures there.

you can check your firmware version by putting the camera in playback mode (you need to have a photo taken already). you then press the e-zoom (i don't have my camera, but it's the button next to the button you press to take a photo) and then while pressing that you should press the down button (as if moving the cursor down).

does that make sense? it's off of the top of my head and i've only done it once when i was checking the other day during my install. but 1.2 just came out so i doubt you have it.

were you plugged in or using the battery? the battery needs to be fully charged to work. and you need to be in playback mode.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions

Never could get the button pushing to tell me what firmware I had so I just mailed myself a picture and checked on a PC with PhotoMe. Yup, you're right, 1.1.3.

After much finagling, most of which was trying to figure out how to format the card in camera and that did it. The thing updated and I then checked by Photome another picture.

This is a 1.1.3 photo of the new BleacherBar underneath the seats out in right field of Fenway Park:

And this is a photo of some 3D artwork at the Museum of Fine Arts

If you look very carefully oyu can see a refelction of the camera lens. I think they did this by a one way mirror in front inside a mirrored box. There were views from all sides so it was all a bit infinity.

Tried out a movie and the focusing worked perfectly. Everything seems a bit snappier.

Those directions did not work for me. I just tried it and scooby doo it works now that I am 1.2 or else I flunked direction following. It could have been that all the other times I was trying it the card had not been formatted in camera but was still the store bought format.

Finally got around to call Overland Photo 913-648-5950 and ordered two items from Patty in Overland, Kansas.

1) cat# 206953 Kaiser Push-On Lenscap 53mm $9.95
2) cat# CK-1 Sima Cap Keeper $1.35
regular mail padded envelope shipping $1.85

The 53mm cap will fit over the Lumix lens system and the cap keeper will tie it to the camera. Patty said they were selling a lot of those caps for the Lumix but both were still in stock.

I think I have everything now with an extra battery, 8GB ultra II SD card and 12 stick on protectors for the LCD screen.
