It is my theroy that old hippies never died, they are just hanging out waiting for another happening.....and this week end is the mother of all happenings, just up the road a peace from me.....three days of hippiedom for old hippies and new converts, at least 12 bands, vendors, rough camping....what more could I want......its like a modern day Woodstock. Schwagstock is hosted by the band Schwag, a super Grateful Dead tribute band, at Camp Zoe...300 plus acres of private land with lots of trees and a river running thru it.....good weather forecast, lets see now where did I put my love beads?

pirate

In Australia we have several such events each year. So the hippies aren't dead They just became middle class hobby farmers.

http://www.rainbowregion.com.au/aquarius/index.php?date=2008-06-01

HEy Buddy? Where you At?

I don't go far afield these days but you're right!
May marks the Annual Gathering of the Rainbow Family!

[color:green]"...or am I a butterfly that's dreaming she's a woman?" [color:green]. . . _ _ _ . . .
Individually, the Rainbow folks are most probably lovely people.

It's the death-grip attachment to all things hippie-ish that I find a little cloying. Just about every Rainbow Family devotee I've ever met has some measure of desperate wish that everything was still Summer of Love 60's. It's kind of pitiful.

"This is not here."

mmmm maybe, that's what it looks like from your pov.
What I notice is that they're all still yearning for the Age of Aquarius.
if there's anything "pitiful" about it, it's that it will never come to pass.

[color:green]"...or am I a butterfly that's dreaming she's a woman?" [color:green]. . . _ _ _ . . .
