No. iPowerweb is my web host. My domain is registered through NetworkSolutions. Having my domain registered through NetworkSolutions, it allows me full control over the DNS setup. That way, if I switch web hosts, I can change the DNS numbers myself without all the trouble of trying to get a company I don't even have an account with anymore to transfer it for me.

Visit Me At My .Mac Site

I'm gonna look into this myself. I'm really cheesed off by what happened the last few days with my web site, and I think I'm getting ripped off as far as how much storage I'm getting for MORE than this iPowerweb costs...

My domain is with register.com, but I'm not sure I have control over the DNS setup...I'm going to look right now...

Hold on....

Yup, I do. I have the option of deleting the current DNS servers, and adding new ones...So I guess it would be pretty easy to make the switch. I just have to look into my current account with my web host NOW...

Hold on...

Hmmm...I'm only paying about $60 a month now, but only getting 40mb of space. Under iPowerweb, I'd be paying about $95 for the year for 400mb...

It's a good deal, but I was hoping maybe to get around 100-200mb for the price I'm paying now...

[color:red]Hold on, it's time for a
Their tech-support has returned my calls and helped me with my DNS problems left over from Valueweb.net... iPowerWeb gets my vote.

Visit Me At My .Mac Site

pulling up an old thread when there are more recent discussions about the topic just seems very spam-like from a poster with 1 post.

that being said, it's funny to see where we were back in 2003. i remember switching to iPowerweb based on Gizmo's recommendation. it was fine for a while, but it went downhill rather quickly. i now use bluehost for my domain registration and hosting needs. i keep a identical backup of all my class website stuff (e.g., Moodle, phpbb class discussions, Wordpress) on another backup domain using http://www.lunarpages.com/; however, i probably wouldn't go with lunarpages again if i was jumping in right now. bluehost has been just fine.

Good morning all,

Just thought you should know that MacTech has a deal with the parent company of GoDaddy to do http://mactechdomains.com . We've been doing this for many years now.

Lower prices than GoDaddy, but the same offerings. Their support is solid, and we have all of our domains registered there. Now, we believe that providing value is paramount with this, and obviously, at these prices we don't make money on domain registration. It's another service to our customers and readers.

There's bundle deals that put the domains at $1.99 each. Without the bundle they are $8.75. DNS, parking, and a slew of other services.

Having worked with other registrars to transfer domains to our account, I cannot imagine wanting to deal with any other domain that offers lesser service at a higher price, but I leave that to you.

http://www.mactechdomains.com/

Hope that helps.
Neil
