Mine is not noisy, yet I read about people saying it is. I've turned off all noise in the computer room and I can hardly hear the iMac! Sometimes I turn the old G3 mt on and I KNOW it is running.

Another thing. I've seen cats curled up on top of monitors while their owners compute. Probably for the warmth. Even if a cat could get up on the base of my iMac, it never gets the slightest bit warm.

I've just upgraded from a Rev B and believe me, the new iMac is virtually silent!

Yep, I can hardly tell mine is on. I was researching the iMac at Apple support/discussion area an hour ago, and read reports of earlier iMacs (not lcd) being screechy, whining.

I've heard some people say that the Superdrive gets noisy, but that's about it.

And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear

I occasionally hear a noise from my Superdrive iMac, but not all of the time. It is no where near the noise that my old G3 mini tower made so I am not complaining.

That mt sits behind me in the corner. I need to take the time to clean things off it and get rid of it. Sure would give me a lot more room here. It is so slow compared to this one and of course OS 9 and I hate to muck with that now.

I don't have to feed or walk it so it can sit a few months more, i guess.

This new iMac is very quiet! Even that little fan is quiet when it comes on. The only time I hear anything is when I pop a CD in the drive....
