Well, the last crusade took place in the late 13th century, and British sovereignty was a result of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after WW I--not so quick And keep in mind that the Ottomans were invading Europe up to the end of the 17th century. The Battle of Vienna in 1683 was nip and tuck there for a while.

The Muslim world has very sophisticated scientists--that's why "the West" is so up in arms about Iran's nuclear potential, after all. This guy is just a flat-earther. We have those here too. And I bet he doesn't believe that evolution is a fact either.

That's not to say that from the 18th century onwards, from the beginnings of the industrial revolution, Europe hasn't overwhelmed "the East." We'll see . . . or actually we won't see . . . if there's a historical swing of the pendulum. Of course nowadays if there is such a swing, it might just mean the end of history, period

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]

There was a reporter on CNN today with a Australian accent, I forget his name, that basically said it doesn't matter when we get out of Iraq. When we do, it will be utter chaos. Mainly because of the ethnic divide there. He said the U.S. still has troops in South Korea from the Korean war. Wow, starting wars is not very smart. And if we use the basic republican thinking, we'll be stuck in all wars forever....like Korea. Policing the world to put a damper on terrorism. Very tough thing to do when you are continents away.
