Well... that was a given. His concern was... what software would it use to view the movie? Would it come with the BR player.... prolly not for the Mac side.

Speaking of BR, and not asking, but just thinking out loud, I've been wondering whether it would be more economical to buy a BR capable disc drive for the empty bay in my Mac Pro and buy Apple TV to broadcast it to my HDTV, or to buy a BR player to replace my old Sony DVD player. I haven't had time to research it yet, but it's still there on the back burner to do that research. The BR drives are backwards compatible, which is nice.

I'm not thinking about ripping, I'm thinking about the fact that Netflix is going over to BR and that my old Sony DVD player won't play BR. I rent movies from Netflix, so I won't be able to watch the BR releases unless I either buy a new DVD player or find some other way.

I thought that BR was backwards compatible with plain old DVDs. Is that not the case?

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]
