Did anyone see his remarks in the news yesterday? A reporter mentioned gas nearing $4 a gallon. Bush then interrupted him and said "are you predicting $4 a gallon?." The reporter said many analysts are predicting that. He acted as though as he had no idea gas was approaching that price. More facts showing he's out of touch with reality.

I loved this line from Andy Borowitz yesterday:

"Elsewhere, President Bush said that the economy was not in a recession, leading economists to conclude that the economy was in a recession."

i listed to it live on NPR and thought Bush sounded pretty bad in the exchange the way he tried to throw it back to the reporter. but, it's not like Bush can get out and buy a gallon of gas, so i don't fault him there. i am more concerned with his consistent denial about the state of our economy. i realize he wants to be a rah-rah guy for the economy, but i just don't get the sense that he's cheerleading as much as he's just, as you say, "out of touch."

Why are you surprised ?

He's had cranial- rectal inversion for 7 years !!

kinda like when Daddy Bush didn't recognize a bar scanner in a grocery store ! remember that one...

It's a Bush Family trait... er value.

and Fools keep electing them !!

David (OFI)

Seems like every spring / summer over the last 3 or 4 years, we get the "$4 gallon of gas scare" from the media. Around here it sometimes leaps to $5 and $6 dollars per gallon.

***********************
