Well Nutty, I am truly impressed. I have been checking in at work all day and first thing when I got home I downloaded Safari. I am one of the people with the slowest phone lines here. 26.6k. There is absolutely no other alternative available yet in my area. I was expecting something from MacWorld that would not affect me other than envy as I am not up for any purchases over $200 right now. Imagine my surprise to see Apple with a web browser. But here is the amazing part. It loads web pages on my miserable dial up in a snap. It still takes a little for the pics to catch up but at least I have something to read while I'm waiting. I'm afraid when I do get faster phone lines, I will get a whiplash from the speed. But it's a risk I'm willing to chance. Kudos to Apple!

tabs are not "owned" by anyone. because they are gecko means that they can't be ported into safari with ease. there is an online petition that is available to ask for tabs, but i don't know that tabs will be an easy addition. i "heard" that omniweb was working on a version of their browser with tabs so it's doable. i think safari will have tabs by version 1.0 (just a hunch).

petition for tabs in safari

[color:blue] -sean
I'm not that crazy about tabs, but I do use autofill all the time. So I hope there's an autofill function soon!

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

I see, thanks. I don't know squat about coding, so I don't know what would be hard and what wouldn't. Also, since it is open source, do you think that means we can expect a lot of cool hacks like we see with Chimera (eg. Chimericon)?

Great feature is tabbed browsing, but (and I can't believe I'm saying this) Chimera already seems slow. I switched to Chimera months ago simply for speed, seems I'm a whore for speed again

Safari looks so damn good, I can't imagine needing any themes for it. I suspect that some hacks will become available shortly. Keep an eye out on macosxhints.com - I would guess they will start getting tips & hints within a week or so.

Visit Me At My .Mac Site
