Ya know what torques my carrot the most about this whole situation?

The fact that it's been several days, and no one of consequence (I'm looking at you [color:green]GreenMe or whoever the Mod is...) has popped into one of these threads with any sort of "official" explanation about why the colors and status designations were reverted to default. It wouldn't even have to be as an open invitation for the regulars to lobby and argue for the reinstatement of the customization we came to enjoy, but merely to provide an explanation about why things were changed.

A lot of lip service is paid to the idea that forums like this one (and this surely isn't the only place where this happens, as many of us well know) should be thought of and built as a "Community." But without any kind of acknowledgement or dialogue between "us" and the folks who run things, the feeling of community begins to degrade.

It's the not knowing that brews up consternation and discontent—the actual change is secondary in importance, because we've all acknowledged that we can live without the customization.

And that ain't good for business, IMHO.

"This is not here."

Yep. Knowing what happened is one thing. Leaving it to our imaginations? We'll assume the worst, you know, like, gee things were fine until . . . And pile on that I've made this observation, but I may well be saying what a lot of us are trying not to think. Human nature ~ whatcha gonna do?

[color:blue]I always deserve it. Really.

If he is the former he should quit and if he is the latter he should quit doing 99% of what he is doing. Go back to Spam removal and leave the rest alone. Will the forum collapse if there is a technicality spoken of in the forum or an evolving species discussed outside the Soapbox? No. As Stan has always done, silence and complete lack of any involvement is the best course. I give the moderator a gold star for cleaning out the sock puppets. Should have quit while he was ahead.

That's what really matters to me.

I agree.

As usual, words of reason.

------> JD's Trivia game

------> MCF-MM Trivia game
Well, as we all know, it could be worse. They could shut down the whole place and hand you a bag of [censored] that they say is a new forum community especially for us...

I know, overstating the obvious.

I hear ya though, just a simple explanation either way would suffice. At least some of you guys had a color and a special title. Some of us never even got to experience that.

Chris

<a href="http://www.light-imagery.com/index.html"target="_blank">

Surely, moderating this forum pays little or nothing. Assuming that, one might also assume that the moderator has a REAL job which requires his/her full attention from time to time, not to mention any family situation, etc. Perhaps the mod just hasn't had the time to explain what is going on in what appears to be some minor housekeeping. There could be software issues which have required backing away temporarily from those teensy little frills which many of you seem to love.

This is total conjecture on my part, of course. It's just that I am willing to assume that there could be any number of legitimate reasons for these slight modifications.

[color:blue]Laz, OFI[/i]

Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?
