When I heard that Bush was heading to Israel to bring peace, I thought 1) Why did he wait seven years to do this? and 2) how weird! "How weird" should have been # 1, because the Israeli-Palestinian "peace" interests of George Bush were really only the occasion for a photo-op where he could reiterate, on a world stage, what an imminent danger is now posed by Iraq--- no, excuse me, that would be Iran! It was funny how NPR (which, according to Bill O'Reilly, is the left wing equivalent to Fox) said that Bush stated, more emphatically "THAN EVER BEFORE," that Israel should stop expanding its settlements on Palestinian land. That would be laughable were it not for the actual injustice, misery, and death imposed for all these years on the Palestinians. And we have, "of course," heard a steady drumbeat of criticism over this from Bush, right? Well, maybe! Sort of! Not quite like he's critiicized, say, Hugo Chavez, but Bush has been really tough on the Israelis! The Israelis are really scared of displeasing him!<br><br>George W. Bush's only real motive for visiting the Middle East is his desire of somehow---even as an unpopular lame duck-- starting another war, now with Iran. And to to put the icing on the cake of this wretched national embarrassment of a president, Bush now says that he personally disagrees with his own country's National Intelligence Estimate.
