this is for Tiger, i believe this is all different in Leo. (it appears Saltire, alec's link, is also for Tiger.)<br><br>i haven't throughly checked out alec's link (i did look)... anyway here's what i did. <br>be sure to backup...i make a zip and then unzip for a working copy, then in the end i replace the original with my finished working copy, saving my zip to a safe place for future replacement if desired.<br><br>i downloaded the necesaary 3 apps from VT (one free, one a working demo, i guess i must own Cocktail --but you can use OnyX, it's free and i got my new icon/image from here.<br><br>props to postglock.<br><br>...adding a new keyboard layout and icon to the /Library/Keyboard Layouts/ folder and selecting it the new keyboard in International preferences caused problems, as certain programs (e.g. Opera and Safari) tend to swap the input keyboard layout back to the original.<br><br>if you have no intention on using the original flag icon as a base for the new icon then... <br><br>get ResFool, FastIcns and Cocktail.<br><br>1. Backup /System/Library/Keyboard Layouts/Roman.bundle<br><br>2. "Show package contents" of /System/Library/Keyboard Layouts/Roman.bundle and copy /Contents/Resources/Roman.rsrc to have a working copy (ResFool will only allow modification of the working copy).<br><br>3. Use FastIcns to create an icon with resource fork. (Open FastIcns, drag picture in, then double click cube.) <<--i seletced Universal.<br><br>4. Open Roman.rsrc in ResFool.<br><br>5. In Roman.rsrc, navigate to KCHR, and note the ID number of the relevant keyboard layout (also, if you want to, you can change the name).<br><br>6. In Roman.rsrc, navigate to kcns, and open the fork with the correct ID number, so that you can see the hex view.<br><br>7. Open the new icon in ResFool. There should just be one icns fork, so open that, select all, and copy the hex.<br><br>8. Select all in the hex view of the relevent Roman.rsrc file, and paste.<br><br>9. Close it all up and save the Roman.rsrc file.<br><br>10. Flush your system cache using Cocktail.<br><br>11.
