Wipe and install, but keychain would not remember passwords, I've read of problems with keychain and Leopard. Since I'm rebuilding from the ground up I just moved the login keychain out and started over.

Let's see what fails next.

------> JD's Trivia game

------> MCF-MM Trivia game

Weirdest thing. I do remember in the first day or two some keychain items wouldn't "stick", but then the problem just melted away.

I had a similar problem where I couldn't unmount disk images (I think Yoyo had this too), but then a few days later the problem disappeared, and I didn't do a thing about it.

Sometimes laziness pays off.

I had problems with very long unmount times for thumb drives, but that was because Spotlight kept trying to index the drive--so on the advice of someone here, I made Spotlight not do that.

   

Ha ha ha. ;)

Actually I could add the keychain from my backup to Keychain, then drag the items all at once from the old to the new keychain within the Keychain app window, but you have to authenticate for each separate item.

This way I'll make sure I know all my passwords.

It's a bunch faster, even the SO mentioned it. She hopped on to check mail and surf. She wasn't aware of what I did but she saw a different desktop and things looked different, and mentioned her browsing was much faster.

I'm home sick, no need to spread it, so I've been setting it up today. Everything is faster, I'm not seeing the momentary SBOD in the Finder. It's a lowly MDD 2x867, but Leopard and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 to get all bells and whistles (and a couple of PCI cooling fans to help vent the case, they're silent) has been a noticeable improvement.

------> JD's Trivia game

------> MCF-MM Trivia game

You could have dragged your keychain from the backup and then make THAT keychain the default for your user. That is what I did.

For Mike

Every install I have done of Leopard has nuked the Keychain. But I used a copy of Keychain I had used Backup.app to put on .Mac and that fixed it.

Eric

I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying that I approved of it. - Mark Twain
Thanks, that's what I finally decided to do pretty much. I wanted to start as clean as possible, but after your suggestion and leicaman's report of every install having a bad keychain I just renamed the old one in my user's folder to the same as my Leopard one, and replaced my Leopard keychain file in the ~/Library/Keychain folder.

Cruisin'

------> JD's Trivia game

------> MCF-MM Trivia game
