The difference is that in Indiana they subsidize gasoline instead of taxing it. I lived there 15 years. They have to do stuff like that to keep the population from doing the mass exodus.

I paid 27 cents for my first pack of Tareytons in Indianapolis. Wasn't their motto, "I would rather be cheap than move"?

Saw $2.89 on the way home today, in MI

I used to think it was terrible that life was unfair. Then I thought what if life were fair and all of the terrible things that happen came because we really deserved them? Now I take comfort in the general unfairness and hostility of the universe.

I think Matt's no longer in IN, although I'm sure Indiana wants him and he keeps saying, "Lord I can't go back there."

   

Good. I hope the price drops even more. But the cost of petroleum is a little like global warming--no doubt there'll be ups and downs, but the trend is ever upwards. And I hate to say this, but that's exactly how it should be. It's a finite commodity, and we all know about supply-demand curves.

   

Point is you were moaning and groaning that gas would never fall below $3.00 per gallon again, and just a few short weeks later it did!

***********************
You weren't "Hanover, PA" specific in your original sky-is-falling post. But hey .. keep on changing what you "meant" to say.

When gas falls under $3.00 per gallon in Hanover, PA, you'll "yeahbut" that the gas station isn't .56 miles from your house.

***********************
