In reply to:

your explanation is perfect.... takes 3 jobs to make it.

Oh hell no. I can make it on my main, fulltime job alone. But should that job go, I won't be looking to the Government to save my ass. That's my job.

In reply to:

and you DO have less in your pocket than you would if gas were $2 a gallon no matter how many jobs you have and no matter how much you make.

The hysteria over gas prices cracks me up. It takes 16 gallons to fill up my car. At $2.00 per gallon that's $32. At $3.50 that's $56, a difference of $24. Wow. So I adjust my budget. I don't go out for lunch. Car pool with a co-worker. Stay at home a little more. Skip a dinner out. Work a little harder at booking a client. Scale back my cable service. Sell something. In other words, it's on ME to adjust if gas prices rise. And another thing, as long as I've been alive, gas prices rise and fall. Rise and fall. In other words, rising gas prices are .. anyone? .. Predictable! I love watching people recoil in horror when gas prices *predictably* rise!

In reply to:

That said, I applaud your entrepreneurmanship.

Thanks man! Wouldn't have it any other way.

***********************
[color:red]Nice Try

In reply to:

Supply and demand.

No, it's the futures market that has held up the inflated oil prices because traders learn they can get rich off the backs of everyone else. There's been little reason for the price of oil to be what it's been the past few months.

In reply to:

Nope .. gas prices will fall, Dave.
In reply to:

Paid off my vehicle ... zero credit card debt ... all I owe on is my crib.

Good for you. I have zero car payments and no credit card payments either. So what?

What do either of those have to do with the fact that 4 years ago I paid maybe $70 a month for electricity and now I regularly pay over $300 even though I use less? That's a difference of $2760 a year, and it continues to climb. Gasoline costs me ~$900 a year more than it did a few years ago. I drive a 27 m.p.g. sedan, not a huge gas hog suv.

Whether or not I have a car payment is irrelevant, that's still $3.6K less a year in my pocket without including all the other increased costs as a result of increased energy prices. Hell 4 years ago I could buy lunch for $6. Now I don't get away for less than $10 anywhere.

Hate to tell you, but having 3 jobs is not a good thing. You should be able to have that same amount of money in your pocket with just 1. Bush has allowed our costs to rise far faster than the average person makes in a "cost of living" raise. That means he's a failure.

Hey I'm an F'n Jerk!®

Can't disagree with any of your points Sarge... Thanks.

"Bush has allowed our costs to rise far faster than the average person makes in a "cost of living" raise. And all of these things are variables that you can factor in to smart budgeting. Gas and electricity prices rise? WHOA! No way! I had no idea.

In reply to:

Hell 4 years ago I could buy lunch for $6. Now I don't get away for less than $10 anywhere.

Brown bag it. Lunch never cost me over $4.

In reply to:

Hate to tell you, but having 3 jobs is not a good thing.

Sure it is. When two of those three jobs are created by me, for me and benefit (not only my clients) but me. Not making enough? Stop bitching about it, get off your lazy ass and get to work. Stop looking for the President of the United States to solve your "problems."

Don't look for someone to blame, Sarge. Take some responsibility for yourself.

***********************
[color:red]Nice Try

Let's pro-rate fuel costs. Those driving fuel efficient cars get the low price and those driving huge SUVs get the high price. You waste, you pay.
