I've been reading around the internet about some folks having big time problems with vertical lines in iMac screens. You asked a while back if you should consider AppleCare when you get your new iMac. After you read some of this stuff, it might help you to make up your mind.

On my lamp / dome iMac, I foolishly did not buy AppleCare. I love that baby. I would give anything [obviously not] to have it working. It would have cost $800 to get it repaired and they were selling for that on eBay.

Here is a petition with 230 sigs. Not a lot of sigs unless yours is one of them. I agree petitions in this case are not much good. All those people and more should complain directly to Apple.

http://urlx.org/petitiononline.com/58730
http://urlx.org/petitiononline.com/58730 If it doesn't work; apple discussions, search vertical lines for many, many discussion/posts

Somewhere in MW old forums is a discussion re: my problems with iMac vertical lines

http://urlx.org/broadbandreports.com/97262
http://urlx.org/ehmac.ca/e67a0 I read this forum
http://urlx.org/macusersforum.com/72c81 Similar to mine except mine 800 MHz lamp/dome
