OK, this is how I believe it works. Not that I am defending MacMall or anything. As a matter of fact, I stopped doing business with them a long time ago.
With that lengthy disclaimer, here is what the retailers do: They offer an "extended warranty" at the time of the sale. Usually, if something happens within that period, they replace the item, no questions asked. They then deal with the manufacturer and take you out of the loop.
If the purchase is not within the initial period and the customer doesn't have the "extended warranty" the customer is obligated to deal with the manufacturer. You still have a good warranty, but it is the maker's and they usually want a little more detailed explaination of what went wrong.
Giz, I understand how pissed you must be. I would be too. In your case, since it is such a new item, I bet they will happily make you whole again.
All that said, just let me know if they don't make you happy. I will refer you to "Big Vinnie, the Legbreaker."

Right - sross.

As a contractors senior manager.
What I say is;
Our warrenty is for 1 year workman ship - Manufactures Warrenty covers the company products that - I used.

In short;
MacMall in theory, unless they are very stupid - should only cover the or any shipping damage occurred. The beef would be with FedEX, UPS or USP between MacMall and them.

MacMall did not manufacture the product, they are a catalog. Whos to say that Formac sent them a deffective monitor to begin with, - should MacMall eat that??
