They will work. The Mac Pro can take advantage of the newer SATA drives (3Gb/s drives) while the Powermac G5 could use the newer drives but only take advantage of the 1.5Gb/s speeds.

my beer blog
Spaghetti man, I think you should put your money into a new Nikon D3 instead of a MacPro. It would be much more useful for your summer in Italy. Think about it.

------
"Take that some place else."
i am using grant dollars that are budgeted specifically for a new computer. i doubt i could justify a camera instead. i have a secret stock account that could possibly buy a D3 (depends on AAPL though), but i was hoping it would buy an HD video camera early next summer and that my D70 would still be going strong. that's my hope anyway.

probably the canon HV20 (or something better if it comes along by about May of next year).

little checks i've gotten for this or that -- insurance rebates checks, birthdays, x-mas, reimbursement for miles from work, etc. i took all of the checks i received and placed them into an investment account and started investing. not really a secret account, but it's an account that i get to use it for anything i want. i almost used some of it to buy an iPhone and then decided to wait for at least version 2.0. now i am not so sure. hmmm.

Oh, so more like a 'stash'. Not so much 'secret'.

I got me one of those, but the money isn't really doing anything.

Financial adviser, line 1!
