I went to apple site today to check out the price $129.00, also checked a few other places on the net and some had rebates etc. I am not really familiar with buying from some of these other places. My question is. If I do buy from someone else besides apple and I have a problem, do they get in the "we can't help you" mode. They have always helped and I am anticipating problems. I really have never installed any new software yet except for iphoto which believe it or not did wrong. Sad but true! Steveg came to my rescue, so after I do get it all my questions should be put into mac local forum. I will need help. I will wait until I get it to start with the questions, hope you all will help me. Anyway I guess I am asking its just better to order it from apple and forget about cheaper places?

[color:green]Happy Holidays [color:green]
Doesn't matter where you order from. Apple will still support it.

Best place is to get it as cheap as you can! And we are all here to help you out if any problems arise.

[color:red]Don't make me open this on you!
As long as it's still in the sealed package, anyplace is fine. MacMacll, Amazon, MacConnections, OutPost or any others are fine. I have bought from Outpost, Amazon, MacConnections, MacMall and have had no problems.

[color:red]Don't make me open this on you!
Yep. You register the software w/Apple, so you go to them if you have problems (or here, natcherly). Generally, the install is pretty goof-proof, but make sure you back-up anything important before you start.

The help screens will walk you through the process. It'll take anywhere from 45 min to 2 hours, depending on how your Mac is configured.

Go for it, girlfriend!

Oh there will be problems. My mac came with osx and I guess the last 9 (classic I think you all call it 'I don't know if I uninstall, over, under, leave them in take them out, add or subtract. Believe it or not I am getting nauseous right now thinking about it. Plus I just got a clamshell, and I was sober too!! Lol! It's strange what what one does in the middle of the night when you can't sleep. Heck can't operate my first one without pulling my hair out So that will be here Fri,( 0s9 is installed on that one )hopefully in one piece, and I guess the whats legal and what isn't needs to be addressed to! One copy per mac. Yet on e-bay some have jaguar pre- installed, no cd's nothing, what the hell is that all about. Jeez, so confusing. I would like to put my new jag when I get it on both, but with my luck the second machine would blow up!! Oh ,that thought is terrifying!! And what happens if you do use it on 2 machines do the mac cops come and take it away. So many questions, and all sound so foolish, oh well. It will be interesting.

[color:green]Happy Holidays [color:green]
I have never done a back up, because I really don't have much on mine, I guess it tells you in the help. I have all the restore cd's etc thats all I need. Oh lord, I know you are shaking your head. I can't help it if I live in a PC town, they don't even have one book in our library here on anything apple related. Our one computer specialist works at wally world in electronics!! He is a big help, not!! Of course I do have some good books, its just to bad I don't know half of what they are talking about. I need a picture book, step by step, follow the dots. LoL! Your safe Steve I promise I won't call you at home!!

[color:green]Happy Holidays [color:green]
If you don't have a lot of stuff on the computer that's yours, why not wipe your HD so you can start with a pristine system? It's a little bit of a pain to have to reinstall all the applications, but you'd be starting with something that you are sure about because you put everything on there yourself.

Just a thought.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

Wipe my hard-drive and re-install. It sounds so simple when you see it written like that. I am so not ready for this, but It's all easy on a mac! We shall see, the big test is right around the corner. Glad the fate of the world doesn't depend on if I do it right or not, cause we all would be in deep banana mash up to our hiney binders,(butts) oh yeah!!

[color:green]Happy Holidays [color:green]
