With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack which may consist of power plays designed to punch holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.<br>In baseball, the object is to get home . . . safe.<br><br>

Understood. But my real basic point is that any sport, or any human endeavor really, seems strategyless (or "boring") to folks who don't know a whole lot about the endeavor. The more you know, the more there is to be seen, and the more interesting the subject becomes. The idea puzzles my students sometimes, who wonder why I'd want to go aroun dissecting poems, say, which they'd just as soon "enjoy" without the analysis. I tell them the same thing--the more you know, the more there is to be known, and so the more enjoyment there is in engaging with the subject.<br><br>

Baseball is to be enjoyed in a leasurely manner sitting back and watch two people play catch for the most part. If you took out all the time when there was not action you would be left with 3 minutes.<br><br>Of course if you did that with Football it would be that or less. Now with Basketball you dont' start the clock until someone is moving so you have 40 minutes or 60.<br><br>dave<br><br>
