I am doing a poster for a benefit concert for Relay For Life. Last year I did this

It is letter size. I really just have to change the date and my friend that requested it said we could use last years. Of course that is no fun so I want to do something like this.

I am having problems figuring out a way to do the coils. Anyone have a quick idea? I looked at some tutorials and for brushes but nothing is looking right. My other alternative is to do some of the neat swirls I saw from BittBox on CreativeGuy's blog as free vector downloads. Thanks Jimmy!

oh yeah, that's going in the blog

Here ya go, a quick one just for fun.

The filigree surround was made out of a single Bodoni Ornament. I wanted it to look like wood, but didn't spend enough time on it.

I created the Guitar Chord frame in Illustrator. Variations of the frame can be achieved by simply turning off and on select layers. It's built on letter-sized paper and you can isolate the Guitar Chord frame and stretch and squash it to fit just about any space necessary. The AI file is 1 MB and you're welcome to it Shelli.

Below are a few of the combinations possible...

The final frame...

Guitar Chord frame...

Simple black over white...

Simple White over black...

M i c h a e l (OFI)

I should mention that the White over Black version is transparent in the white area, which means you could put a box of any color or gradient behind the black background and it will show through.

M i c h a e l (OFI)

WOW! Thanks everyone, what a bunch of nice guys, including Gary with his helpful email. My plan was exactly what Michael did so it will work great. I plan on not having it transparent, instead I am going to make it a textured metal, liked brushed aluminum although I also have some rust styes then turn it grayscale. I will post the finished product.

oh yeah, that's going in the blog
